remember them old silver ice cream mixers just for shakes ? came with the silver cup as well ? I found one of those at a yard sale and bought it. it sure brought back some memorys of drinking out of that big cup. seemed colder , you got way more then if they poured it up. haha

i do remember them made great shakes too

I had to buy a new water today. 3 1/2 gallon, $20. the heated one like I had was $44. the base of that one was no where to be found. I will put a cookie tin under it .

pretty sure I will be filling that up every or every other day. in the summer they go through 3 gal. in the big coop. I need something better. 2 of them maybe ? Wonder if I can make a base.

you should be able too..mine go thru only a gallon of water but you have a lot more chickens than i do

i use a cookie tin too in the winter works great.
So jealous of those with power to the coop, lol. Our coop is far enough away that extension cords aren't really an option. We ran them one summer to power cameras when we were expecting a foal, but it was only for about a month and during good, dry weather so I could go a straight route and that meant only having to use two cords -- for longer use and in foul weather I'd want/need to use the fence line to keep the cords up off the ground and out of the way so that would require at least three cords (300 feet) and I'm not completely sold on that being such a good idea. Am toying with the idea of contacting the co-op about having a line and second meter run, have heard it may be possible to get it done at little to no cost but haven't spoken to someone actually AT the co-op to know that for a fact.
