Red, if it was me I would just go out there with a pair of scissors & carefully trim the poppy mess from her bottom. She's getting poop stuck on it because she's pooping in the nest. Less fuzz on her bottom, less poop sticking to it. Just gave one of my girls a trim today. Much easier than washing.
This sounds easier and she'll probably stand a less chance of getting sick.
Yep & you will only have her off the nest for a few minutes. Just hold her upside down & trim away. Carefully though so you don't hit skin.

The bug finally caught up to me. I don't feel good. :hit Been in bed all day. Stomach is uneasy if I'm upright. DH brought me mozzarella sticks and root beer. Not sure why I thought that was a good idea...
Sorry that you not feeling so good Camp. Hope you get to feeling better soon :hugs

the one he made is styrofoam . it needed new heating wafers x2 and it has 2x2s inside that I think is messing with the humidity. I want to try and make one since I have all the right parts but not sure i am up to it. the good ones like Yorks are just too much money.

I bet you could make a great one you know what is need and what isn't and how to make it idiot proof and easy to clean.

plus would give you an excuse to hatch more chick I need to see if this works right

I would really love to have one made with an old wooden cabinet or such to use for decoration full time in the living room. I know you cant use raw wood. marine varnish would be the way to go with wood. then I have an old "plastic?" cooler that would work too but if I have to do it I want it to look good. even the varnish is high. and the right cabinet would be too. seen a wine cooler at the junk store with a glass front and all the right shelves but they wanted $75. for it.
