Ive hauled eggs and egg products out of Gaylord ,Mn

Not sure what that has to do with whether they are white washed or not?
Coloration based products would be considered a risk due to the porous nature of the egg shell and the risk of absorption into the egg within. The peroxide based sanitizing products will have a "bleaching" effect on the exterior of the egg, resulting in a cleaner, brighter white than seen pre-wash.

Sometime thru the night Thur, second one hatched yesterday afternoon. Then I believe more has hatched, but with the kiddos I haven't made it out to check.

have you fed them ? she will leave the nest with them soon. they are hungry.  How many more eggs ?  you can keep her there longer by pulling the babies.
She actually has 5 chicks under her when I checked earlier. If the 1 remaining egg hasnt hatched by morning I will remove it & candle it. If its still viable I will put it under the sister broody who only has 1 egg that's to hatch in the next 2 days.

Anyone that has had leghorns can tell you that is a load of crap. I have actually bought dirtier eggs from walmart than I have gotten from my coop. Either way, you can't make an egg much whiter than they are when they are laid.

Great plan! Congrats on the babies!

Thank you tippy, did you go watch my You Tube video of the first mischievous two?

I am still looking for my "perfect" breed.   Harder for me as I hate red chickens  LOL  started with Brahmas.  I love them other then they aren't very cost effective.  I will always have some but not my "go to breed"   I will also have a few easter eggers  .   I like that australorps  but they are a real pain to pluck clean.  Great egg layers tho.

What are the characteristics you need (besides not red, lol) - from this it looks like good layers, dual purpose for meat, cold hardy?  Have you tried one of the varieties of sussex?

x2 on sussex. Light would look like light brahmas. I like the coronation sussex, too.
