Hello everyone!
I’m Joni and I live in Florida with my hubby, 2 dogs, and 13 chickens.


(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I have had chickens for the past 15 years (pets only).

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

I currently have 13.

(3) What breeds do you have?

I have (1) RIR, (2) Buff Orps, (2) Sapphire Gems, (2) Sussex, (1) bantam roo, (2) Mystic Onyx, (2) Olive Eggers, and (1) Wyandotte.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

I love the different personalities of the chickens, the delicious eggs, and the beauty of each breed.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I am a novice gardener. I enjoy spoiling my grand baby, creating jewelry and other craft items, spending time on the boat, mountain biking, antiquing, and reading.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I am a wife, mother, grandmother, and fur mom to two toy Australian Shepherds.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?

I was part of the Facebook group years ago, but deleted my Facebook account a couple of years ago. I was googling some information on chicken combs this evening and came across a BYC thread.
