Hands on hatching and help

Probably Tuesday evening. Going to check air cells again Sunday and decide. How bout you?

Technically Wednesday night starts day 21 but I'm going to stop turning tomorrow and recheck air cells and then kinda see what happens. I never have a set lockdown day. I just kinda keep an eye on drawdown and once that starts I'll go ahead and "lockdown". :fl

Great! :fl Can't wait to see these babies. And yea, lockdown isn't a term we take literally, huh. :D

Friday morning starts my day 21 technically, but seeing as these are seramas, I expect some Thursday hatchers. Or at least maybe some action by Wednesday evening. I haven't kept temps high this time though, been hanging closer to 99.5 than 100+

I ended up setting six eggs Thanksgiving night - they were getting old and I couldn't send them out to anyone so they found their way into my incubator, lol.

I kept my meddling hands out even tho it was hard but everyone hatched no problems this time it was such a relief!!!
Congrats!

Just set 14 Paint Silkie eggs from @RubyNala97 !!

@RubyNala97 how are yours doing?

I actually got 5 silkie eggs today. Most I'vegotten from them in one day so far. There are 7 girls, so they are doing good. It's a good thing I haven't replaced my incubator yet, or I'd probably be setting...lol I did find homes for my two paint males, so I have Shadow, my black and Blooie my grayish covering. I can't wait to see what I get next year!
I'm getting barely anything from the others now.

Congrats!

Good luck.

Just wait till they start going broody all the time! I swear it's a constant thing. I have one that sat forever on nothing, then gave up for about a week and is now back to sitting and another that started sitting and screeches her head off the second I open the nest box door. My point is, enjoy getting the eggs now before they all start going broody on you!! ;)
Anyway, the eggs are doing good. I locked them down last night because I saw one looked like it was working on an internal pip but I checked it this morning and nothing yet. But several more have drawn down. I think they may be right on time! All 18 have made it this far. One I'm a little concerned about because the air cell has not grown since day 14/15 and I can not tell which side is up because it's a perfect circle air cell but I saw the chick move this morning so we'll see. So far so good overall.

I think I'll do a little more broody-breaking this coming spring. I let them all do their thing the first time, but my goodness! lol

Its amazing that all 18 eggs are doing well for you! That's awesome! I hope you have a great hatch

21 days used to take forever, now I can't believe its already day 17. I'll check air cells tonight and see how mine look.

Need help? I have 2 different batches in the incubator. A week or so apart. I'm coming up on lock doe. And don't know what to do. Some eggs need to be locked down and more humidity and some need lower humidity and to be kept turned. Any suggestions?

That's the problem with setting at different times. You have a couple options. If you don't have another incubator or hatcher to move some to, You can raise the humidity when the first batch is supposed to be raised and stop turning those eggs, then drop the humidity back after they hatch. Or you can wait an extra day or two, until they start pipping, then crank up the humidity, and just leave it up till they all hatch. For me, it would depend on how the air cells of the later eggs look.

Thank you! Isn't it amazing how fast the times flies when setting?! It did used to take forever to get to lockdown and hatch!! I still don't even have the brooder set up!

Possible malpo on my first pipper. I know it looks like maybe it's just a low pip and a big draw down (and it might be) but when I checked it this morning the draw down wasn't much past my last line so I'm wondering......
