Hi if anyone can help me, one of my bantams layed and egg with no shell on yesterday! Inside that egg was another egg with a shell on and inside both was a hard fatty lump!!! Has any ever had this happen before here are pics...

Well it’s either from my hen that is about 5 or from my other hen which is 2 years old both of them have bin laying good hard eggs! I have some poultry tonic with vitamins will that be good and I do have Cockrell this egg looks like it’s about to turn into a chick although it was only laid yesterday ?

No, I've never seen this personally, but I've seen it mentioned by people occasionally here on BYC after it happened to them. The hard waxy object, however, is of concern.

@staceyj has pretty much covered it. It appears your hen, and it's important to identify which one this is from, is suffering from an oviduct infection. The waxy object is pus from her reaction to bacteria in her egg "chute". This can happen if bacteria, usually E-coli, enters the cloaca and works its way into the oviduct.

I would start such a hen on a broad spectrum antibiotic immediately.

It’s an eggception! That looks like 3 eggs to me. The little yellowish comma looking bit could have been the start of a yolk. Or it could be infection her body tried to expel.

The more round piece could be a meat spot.

Did you happen to cut either of those parts open? I know they are tiny but how it’s formed can give clues. I have seen that lash eggs seem to build on themselves so when cut open it’s sorta like rings in a tree.

I once had a girl lay an egg with I giant meat spot instead of yolk. The shell itself was soft and broke when layed. The albumin was thick and gel like. I never figured out which hen it was and never saw anything like it again.

agreed

if you can't get antibiotics , or don't want to use them, you can try to add, red pepper, garlic and some other thing to their feed , but I think these are more preventatives than cures
