Hatching Coturnix Quail with Broody Chicken

Following! Can’t wait to see how yours turn out. I had to take my quail eggs from my broody hen at the end because she was stepping on them. She was just to big... then again I get the feeling she wouldn’t have done much better with chicken eggs. Your mama hen seems like she’ll do much better

What size was your chicken?

She’s full size Dominique. I figured it was a long shot but worth a try. She did a good job up to the last day and then started stomping around too much.

Mine is a bantam Brahma so I think she will be the perfect size

I’m hopeful someday I’ll have a quail pair step up to hatch their own. My oldest is just over a year so maybe a while yet. I did have some juvenile males who did an excellent job brooding a set of chicks & it was majorly adorable. They haven’t taken much of an interest since they’ve grown up though.

She’s such a small chicken so she’s perfect to sit on quail eggs.

One of the chicken chicks she has is insanely cute.
