I’m aware this is probably near impossible but I have some spare fertilised eggs and thought why not! 😆 I’ve placed an egg in a sock and filled it with rice, I’ve also put 2 hand warmers in there. I’ve tied it tight at the top and placed another sock over it. I’ve then put this under my bed wrapped in a blanket. Although it’s unlikely, what do you think the chances are of it working?

that looks cooked to me too...onsen eggs maybe 😬

it would be good to have atleast a temperature probe so you can adjust temperature. Those hand warmers get pretty hot.

The hot water idea has been used for a long time in asian countrysides. They lay their eggs on a warm water bed inside an insulated space.

My current “incubator” is pretty similar and also based on the concept, it’s a crockpot with water in it, and eggs floated above that via a plastic sheet.

Incubation isn’t rocket science (though it can be at times!). The basic premise is being able to maintain a certain temperature environment for fertile eggs. So as long as you can hit that temperature and keep it there, you can get pretty creative with incubation, but I would say a calibrated thermometer is essential, no matter what method you use!

I dont think it will work. Especially with little to no humidity.

It likely won’t work, the temp would need to be just right. I don’t see that happening with that method. But you will be able to tell in 4-5 days if you notice veins.

very high chance of you cooking the egg or it not being warm enough. Even if it hatches, you might end up with a chick with deformities etc 😬

Hand warmers aint cheap! If you want to spend that much money, you may as well buy a cheap thermostat controller and use it with a crockpot/ rice cooker/ electric skillet or something 🤣

Do you have a heat pad? (For small pets), I did use one of those once with success with a
Plastic container on top . However the eggs had started developing and the hen stopped being broody. It was an emergency intervention 😂. It worked too.
x2, if you had one without an auto shut off, it'd work.
