Wow! Would love to see those babes when they hatch. Have been thinking about cream legbars and black copper marans - maybe next year. Way too many chicks this year already! It's a sickness, you know... but I just can't help myself. Good luck with your next hatch!

Just put more BCM, Lavender Orps, CCL, and BLRW eggs in the bator today. @WVduckchick, those babes are gorgeous!!! Congratulations.

Let me put it this way, I come from a long, long line of CRAZY Russian women who initiated superstitions! Don't pass the salt directly to me, put it down first. Don't put shoes on a chair. Don't look at a new moon through glass, and if you do, you must stop what you are doing and undo the 'bad luck' by spitting on your thumb and turning three times anti clockwise.... (this includes pulling off to the side of the road if you should happen to see the new moon BY MISTAKE through the windshield) need I say more? However, the friday the 13th thing doesn't really figure into all this other silliness, so yes, it will all be fine. Oh, and the black cat thing.... super good luck you'll be happy to know.

Eh, I fixed it, will candle them in the morning. I'm using a huge "food service cart", those things they serve hot food from in the hospitals? And it has a "proof" setting for making bread rise. I turned it on to proof instead of heat, and my therms were showing 109F. This was several hours, so they are likely goners, but I won't toss them just yet.

Just putting some in lockdown tonight, and nervous as heck. I have had mixed results with shipping eggs. All that make it to lockdown are always saddled. My local PO sucks.
My first hatch, I left all on their sides with biggest aircell end up. All hatchees did so well. My second hatch, I am devastated because one of the chicks pipped in the wrong spot and the membrane was too tough to break and s/he drowned. I never ever want to experience this again... :'( So I don't know if putting that chick upright might have helped? I'm just not sure! I am going to read the rest of the thread but wanted to post now. Please pray for my babies!
