Where I live, nobody teases. Everyone I've met since moving here was either raised on farm eggs and chickens, or knows someone who was or is. My friends from "back home" react differently. One of my former co-workers can't believe I would ever consider eating one of the animals I've raised---- she has said "what about your birds (referring to my 3 cockatoos)-it would be like eating them". Of course, it's not. I've been tempted to send her pictures of our rooster pot pies- but I don't-- I can't worry about it, and I'm not in the market to change anyone's feelings.
My current co-workers have gotten used to my BYC University Tshirts, all my chicken photos that I've brought in to show them on my laptop, and as soon as the weather clears and it gets warmer-- I'll get my BYC bumper stickers on my new-to-me truck!!
