Thank you for the information so far none of that, just started as an ucler looking thing in teh eye (basically like a cataract looking thing) then i treated with terramycin ointment, and the eyes ballooned up on the first one...

however, get this, I put terramycin in the other chicks eye, and the whoel eye turned that filmy color (like one big cataract)....i wonder if the terramycin is somehow irritating it....and making the eyes swell...would have no idea why though sinc eit's an antibiotic FOR the eye...herrm... for a test I put some in the most recient chick to get this problem (the second one) i put some in it's good eye...im waiting a bit to see if it also gets filmy.

I'm going to look up taht illness you spoke of

I separated the chicks into a clean 10 gal tank with antoher lamp food and water....i hope if it's communial i can stop it and save these two......if it IS taht illness wouldnt i be better off culling themor do they have a chance???

i wouldnt imagine terramycin doing that either, but it's just odd ptu it on and the eye goes filmy and that stuffs mostly clear (ofcourse has a yellow tinge to it). Gah just so stressed thank you for the link though!!!

dang I know that's my worry too, I have no clue how much to use....I dont want to kill them when (now from the info you provided) if they survive they can still be used for breeding and be immune for possibly their life which would be wonderful news...however it's not wonderful news they may hve this and at such a young age...

the only thing i hve going for me is their poos arent' runny, no onese sneezing or hacking their cheeps sound just as normal as the others....

however I removed another chick from teh main brooder into the quarenteen tank wiht them...it kept closing one eye and the eye was a lil teary (not drippnig out just looked likt it wanted to cry sort of deal lol)....no ulcer looking thing...however Im not taking any chances...i put terramycin in the eye and ptu it in the tank...

it says taht it can spread through different age groups...well i just had chicks hatch today taht i put in there...however i highly doubt the incubation period is that fast..the chicks that are getting this are 5 days old and they were the first to go into the brooder along with a button quail chick. (all of which I hatched).

I only have two heat lamps so I can't separate more birds...very stressful over here to say teh least...lol. I'm just going to keep the hope and kep trying to do some research...

thank you for helping me so much!!!

Being a non-commercial type of bird there just isn't any info about them. I did a search for Quail at the Merck site and came up with 37 hits, that's not many. You might change the title of your post to include that they are Quail, someone here has to have some experience with them.
