Clean it gently and apply some antibiotic ointment... wrap it secure so it stays clean, but not tight...

It would be better to leave it open to the air, I feel, but I am more concerned with it staying clean...

Should I clean it with peroxide? I upgraded their home, it's a longer tubby and got puppy training pads

No, don't use peroxide on waterfowl or poultry... it's too rough on healthy tissue as well as unhealthy... just a saline rinse or very diluted iodine (clear/colorless is best) or betadine...

I like the saline rinse idea.

Maybe Epsom salt solution? Remember not to let the little ingest any of it - either could cause serious problems if taken orally. I soak clean rags in the solution and hold the rag around the foot or leg.

Hmmm, check and see if there is any painkiller in that...I have read that it is not a good idea to use things with painkiller for ducks. The Epsom salt is used for wound care topically - so if it were me, I would use Epsom salt solution on a clean cloth and it may be as easy as standing the little one on top of a washcloth in a shallow bowl of Epsom salt and lukewarm water for a few minutes, two or three times a day. Remember - it's a laxative, so no drinking the Epsom salt water for either of you!!!!!

I've used that on my ducks with no issues...

I've used that for mine, no issues... I don't *think* I have seen it with pain reliever in it, but that looks just like the one I had...

Amiga is right about the epsom salts now, since it popped it's open wound... just keep them cleaned as best as possible and watch for infection...

Accidents happen, so hang in there... just monitor anything heat wise around them... :)
