Help! Air cell’s too small but duckling’s still Alive trying to pip!

I'm not familiar with the brand, so I cant really comment, but if it has good reviews I would lean towards that one in terms of accuracy. What does that one read currently? And what doesnthe glass one read?

This is the one I got, it’s different to the Vicks one but I’m considering buying it if it’s better. The temperature reads 38.4C and humidity 57 (despite not topping up at all - not sure how the humidity is staying this high). The glass thermometer reads 36.7 (shows 37 but it’s 0.3 higher).

An update!

This egg has started to shadow a little bit, the humidity dropped to 18% so I added a bit of water to bring it back to 58-62%. Should I increase it anymore than this or leave the humidity as is?

This egg’s alive - saw movement! The worry though is it might be in the wrong position because you can see well into the egg from the front but the pointy bit is all dark - either this duckling is smaller or it’s squished into the bottom of the egg. The air cell also decreased by a really small bit, not enough but a little.

On a side note i wonder why hatching eggs this round was a lot harder than the last, so much went wrong!

I would leave humidity as is, for the sake of the egg with a smaller air cell,
and raise it a little more once you get the first external pip!
Good news that both have movement!
I'm not sure what's going on with the second egg, but all we can do is wait it out.
Before the hatch, have you read up on assisting a hatch? It's always a good idea to refresh your memory.Assisted hatching article

I haven’t reread since the last time, I’ll go ahead and do that now. It’s always so nerve wracking to just wait without being able to do anything 😣! I hope it makes it through.

Has the duckling internally popped or is it still shadowing? The air cell also decreased by a lot - should I increase the humidity?

The other egg is still moving inside as usual, hasn’t moved near the front yet:

It looks like more shadowing, but if there isn't an internal pip yet there will be soon, listen out for chirps or taps!
The air cells drop considerably, thats normal, don't increase humidity yet.
Hopefully the second will be okay, could be a later hatch, but the air cell should drop soon.

Alright I’ll keep an eye on both of them! The Vicks hygrometer just arrived, but it’s readings for humidity is in the 70s - it’s 58 for the other one, I think I’ll need to calibrate them both at this point, but how would I calibrate the temperatures of a hygrometer? Wouldn’t dunking it in ice water destroy the whole thing? (There’s no probe)

I'm guessing this would work here, but, you could try putting it into a thin waterproof bag and then dunk that into the ice water, not sure if it would be that accurate, but its an idea.
I'm not sure how else you can calibrate the temp.
For humidity, I believe you use salt to test them

Ooh that’s actually a really good idea! I think it might need to be in there a bit longer but should be fine. I’ll do the temperature first and then the humidity incase shocking the device affects the humidity reading after having already done it
