Been reading and lurking @casportpony is awesome in so many ways... I dont have ducks yet. But want some eventually. And One of those dogs like you have.... I forget the breed.

Also I applaud your tenacity and search for good treatment techniques. And for your ability to take instruction...

I too live out too far to run to the vet or even the store.... an hour each way. So we have to have some of those extra skills to handle situations on your own...

Cathy has a thread on first aid kits... Its a wonderful source of info... I have had horses for fifty years so my Husbandry skills run along the lines of Large livestock. But it only took a few additions to make my first aid kit up for Poultry.

They would 100% be goners if not for him. I just feel bad, because his reward for saving our ducks has been me spending basically all my free time with the ducks (and not him). Not a very good reward. But he did get a few treats.
Aw, poor guy. Maybe let him stand by you while you watch over the ducks? And give him little treats so he forms positive associations with the ducks being inside?

The ducks ate food all by themselves this morning!!

Surprisingly, Carmella ate about twice as much as Gregory. I'm going to see how much they eat through the day, but I still plan on tube feeding until they are eating normal amounts of food on their own. They are both drinking lots of water on their own! Carmella is still having a little trouble holding her head up, and is still pretty dizzy. But she's doing better every day. I don't like to be overly optimistic, but I am very optimistic.
This made my day! How's Carmella's weight doing?

Had a long day, so I didn't get to update about the ducks much. But the Ducks are doing great! Their pen is littered with good poops and Carmella is up to 5lbs!!!!! Gregory is up to 6.8lbs!!
They ate MORE than their normal daily food rations! Do you think they still need more nutrients? Or should they be ok eating on their own now?

Here is a photo of the corner Carmella likes to poop in for those who are interested.

I've let him come say hi a couple times(from a distance), and he behaves very well. The ducks are pretty nervous around him though. Trying to keep their stress levels down. Gregory is so brave, he lunged at Boris and it spooked him pretty good!!
