Help Keeping Noisy Fisher Cats Away?

I plan to set my game camera up where I hear them to be sure it's not a fox playing tricks.
Fox can make a horrendous hair raising noise,
never forget having one around here for a summer.
Finally spotlighted it 60' from house, didn't faze it a bit and it kept 'screaming'.
Would love to see and hear a fisher on your game cam.

The first time I heard a fisher 30 years ago, I seriously thought someone was being violently killed in the woods across the street. It was spring, and mating season - 2 were screaming away. Wasn't sure if it was two males fighting, or two mating. It was horrible to hear.
They are fearless. They dig, they'll chew through wood. But they also kill porcupine - so there's that! I agree... electric fencing and a secure run with hardware cloth.

The one I had came over a 8' fence like it wasn't there. I saw it leave the chicken yard when I scared it off. An electric wire at the top might have helped but he could easily have cleared it.
BTW, they will kill cats as well. if they get a chance.

I've watched fishers chase squirrels up trees. There amazingly fast. Thing was 60' up and jumping from tree to tree chasing that squirrel.

Don't think a hot wire is going to work well if there's trees near the coop/run.

I've been seeing a squirrel shortage earlier in the summer... yet there was boom of them last year so I did find it rather strange.

There are a lot of folks in my area that play the 'They're natural pest control' card for Opossum, Foxes, and such... I'm not letting that happen with Fishers! They're evil.
Speaking of which- foxes aren't native to America- and certain species of birds are. Why do I have to be 'kind' to foxes when they're hurting real nature? What's wrong with this world?

I'm working to build a chain-link run come next Spring- for now, my birds are safe in a barn. I'm planning (intending) to use hardware cloth for the coverage, and a strip of interior wood/chicken wire at the bottom for security of predators that like use their hands.
I'm confident of the protection of my flock- but the fisher is a very unsettling, horrid, unwanted guest... and I'm not welcoming it.
