HELP! Oral antibiotic administering for a difficult duck!!!

what do you do with the tongue? I just tried before reading this and almost had it but then couldnt pull the tongue far enough out to see the glottis, maybe i need an extra set of hands

You don't need to do anything with the tongue, just insert the syringe on the ducks left side, aim diagonally and downward to the ducks right side and give the medication.

I forgot to ask, how big is your syringe? Let me know how big it is and I will go make a video of me giving one of my ducks some water from a syringe.

What are you talking about? This is not true, ducks can have almost any veterinary or human antibiotic! Please be careful spreading misinformation like this.

I bet what's causing the problem in the first place is you , you are feeding them medicated food you can't give ducks medicated feed what so ever! as in never!

@graypes, please do listen to your vet. If the duck was prescribed antibiotics for a respiratory infection you need to give the medication as you were instructed. Not giving it to them could cause death.

It took me a wile to teach my vet but eventually he learned . Needless to say I hope you read this before you finish the job of killing them . Dusty powdered medicated feed . runner ducks love to go down the side of the road and feast on slugs after a good warm rain . They are top of the line for keeping slugs out of the garden. Seriously? Not only is that pretty much all false information, minus the part about ducks liking to eat slugs...
But it was downright disrespectful to the OP. You have no idea what feed they are using anyway. You didn't ask..you just started spouting.
I bet you taught your vet exactly nothing...they just got tired of listening to you thinking you knew it all.

tried this, she’s so traumatized from how long it took me to get the hold right that she keeps screaming and when i think i have her mouth open enough and steady, and move to put the syringe past the glottis, she violently shakes. If I hold any harder Im going to hurt her. So i just dont think thats an option anymore. She knows and hates the taste of it and if i put it in food, she wont get her full dose im really worried and i cant keep trying things bc im going to lose too much antibiotic

You've got this OP, you can do it. It's possible, and I promise you won't hurt her. I can do big pekin drakes that do NOT like to be handled on my own, so I promise you, you can get the meds into her

Do what @casportpony recommended.

This is how I do it:

Wrap her in a towel to restrain her body, then tuck the 'duck burrito' between your arm and your body and pin her there. Using the arm you have pinning her, extend her neck and slide a finger into her beak to hold it open. Then with your other hand, administer the medication. Slide the syringe down the right side (her right) of her mouth, like as in this picture:

No, this is not medicated feed and I have never fed them medicated feed. I feed them non-medicated duck feed and dried as well as fresh bugs and fruit if they're good. This is a course of 1.6ml of Liquid antibiotics for a viral infection they likely picked up outside. My only problem is administering the antibiotics.
