Yes, it is not blocked but white gunky stuff keeps oozing out.
So between the honey, Preparation H and neosporin, which to use? Or should I rotate? Do you just put any kind of honey on the vent area?

Well- if they ARE maggots- the good news is...maggots will only eat dead tissue, and leave the healthy tissue alone. Sounds like those hot baths are making progress and sloughed away some dead tissue and along with it came the maggots? I'd keep the warm baths coming and I think the neopsporin and prep H are great ideas too. Soak that baby again! Might hit the jackpot on the next one!

Can you get some Domboro powder from the drugstore it is an antiinflammatory that you soak in (warm water). Also maybe go to a health food store- they have great homeopathic remedies in their health and beauty sections. Can you give her VetRx, it seems to work on everything.

is she walking around too so it move a loose it up.? or course when u pick at it will bleed a little it wont hurt her but you are breed [sp?] it and it will loose up.
iam glad she still eating and drinking will post tomorrow.

I got 3 hens that were un bad shape when I got them the guy said that they were molting. one had no feathers on vent all the way up to her tail I noticed poo started sticking to it washed it next day went to get her a maggots were coming out of her. they had got up in her vent and would only come out when enough came out they got so crowed they fell out she got so sick I had to cull her cause there is no vets around here that will take a chicken unless you go a couple states away. so yes keep it clean clean as you can hope she makes it.

Looks to me like she might have had a prolapse and/or other chickens pecked her vent and now it's swollen and infected and full of maggots. I've treated many maggot infested wounds and here's what I would do - First, while she's dry, pour hydrogen peroxide on the wound and let it set for a minute or two - keep flusing the wound with HP especially if the maggots start running out. Once you've done that put her in a warm Epsom salt bath to soak. Once soaked, try and get any other maggots or any dead/diseased skin off the wound. Then, apply Neosporin and put some in the vent.

Preparation H could be used to help the swelling of the vent but I don't think I would use that with an open, maggot-filled wound.

If you have Screw Worm Spray you can spray her with that because it's supposed to kill maggots and I have it but never use it since I use the method above. Every animal I've treated has healed completely. I use the Screw Worm Spray only after wounds have started to heal to keep flys off the wound.

She looks like she will be fine. I've seen and treated far worse including huge open wounds.

If it is maggots, flush it with hydrogen peroxide to get the maggots out. Prep H will help, but I wouldn't use it until you get the maggots out of her. Keep up with the warm baths as well as it should help relax her muscles.
