My chicken run is fully enclosed and predator proof. We have canopy tops for shade and chicken fence with mesh above the canopy to prevent predators. The run has an entryway into the coop which has air conditioning since we leave in the south and it is extremely hot. My problem is my chickens now refuse to go in the coop at night and instead sleep on top of the canopy. What can I do other than chasing them all into the coop every night?

Can you post pictures of your coop and run?
This is an older pic, there has been some changes. The coop is inside the shed that the run is attached to. I do not have pics of the inside of coop.

If the coop is inside the shed, have you taken a temperature measurement in there? You mentioned having AC but is it making a temperature difference? Or is it loud and maybe that's upsetting to the birds?
