HERE WE GO AGAIN Anyone SETTING Aug 30th - Sept 8th join me!!

Wow just since last night lots joined.LOVE IT.Should be lots of excitement and fun and all are very welcome here!

This thread why dont we try and put what day we are on along with each post as i think it keeps us from having to look back to find out who is on what day.

Saying that.... i am on day 4 with 18 Lavender Orpington eggs. This is my 8th hatch but 4 of those were a few days apart overlapping

This hatch .I already had a couple small bloops do to overlapping hatch.Had to put these eggs in my Hovabator waiting for the last hatched chick to join his sibs
The Hova went to 100.4 last night before i switched them to my Genesis which holds them within a degree which i think really helps to have a good hatch. Also my own opinion based on nothing is since the embroys grows all its limbs etc the first week i dont like to move it other than turning them.
.Anyway then put them in the genesis and had forgotten to take out the old water so humidity 60% last night until moved to the Hova while i cleaned the Gen. and then back.Geez..So these poor shipped eggs have been scrambled in heat on the way moved moved again in a little higher heat and way too high humidity and just on day 4.
If I get any hatch I guess I will be lucky

I would like to join too. This will be my first incubator hatch. I just got an email this morning that my Ameraucana eggs are on their way from Georgia to central Florida! So hopefully they will be here tomorrow or Thursday. I am very excited for them to get here. Happy Hatching everyone!

Okay, so I said last hatch that was going to be it for the year. Set 10 Araucana eggs on the 1st and now have 6 Marans and 6 Silkies being delivered to me on Thursday. I AM A HATCHAHOLIC!!! I was on ebay looking for Maran eggs and found a person selling them here in FL. I mapquested where they live and it is a little over an hour north of me. I originally asked them if I could pick the eggs up and it turns out the gentleman works for the Dept. of Agriculture and the county I live in is his territory so he will be dropping them off. Now that's what I call excellent customer service!!!

Hey Lisa. You are not far from me. Welcome to our group.

Oh I cant wait to start my breeding projects next year. It will be my first year on my own, I used to help my granny when I was younger now she is gone. I may be asking questions that I forgot to ask her. I get so excited when I read about everyones anticipation waiting for eggs and to see what their new babies look like. I just cant wait!!

Hey all
Set some Wed. 29th:
10 Black Australorps
13 Mille Fleur Bantam Cochins
7 Moltted Bantam Cochins

All have been shipped to me (my 1st purchase of shipped eggs) & this is my 2nd time of hatching in incubator.

Breeder I bought my incubator from a little over a month ago had given me 18 eggs to start with (speckled sussex, lavendar orpingtons, blue langshan & welsummer) out of the 18 he gave me I got 3 speckled sussex, 2 welsummers & 1 blue langshan (only had one of these eggs).
Had a lavendar orp. developing but at some point late in the game it cracked, so no hatch. So my 1st ever try at incubating I got 6 out of 18.

Hoping for more success this time around but understand they are shipped eggs, so i am trying to keep my expectations in check.

good luck all
Stacy i wonder if you had done eggtopsies on your last unhatch eggs?. Not really bad first hatch but a little low hatch for non shipped eggs,Most ppl get aout 80% but she may have taken what she found and they could have gotten too hot, been too old or possibly not even fertile before you got them.Pretty nice of her though free such ...NICE breeds
..
.Did you have any problems with the bator during your hatch?Too high temp?To high low humidity Anything?

The first hatches it s a good idea to do the eggtopsies to find how far along the unhatched were or if fertile at all....although not pleasant it gives you some clues as to what may have gone wrong so you can correct it next time.Usually you have to get the bator temp and humidity ajusted to your location for a really good hatch. That said you did get 6 so something was right obviously. HAHA
I am just wondering about the eggs before they were set.
GOOD LUCK on this hatch
. I have had abysmal hatches on shipped and last hatch i just had had 2 unfertile ,one quiter and 11 locked down 10 hatched well and the last tried to but when it pipped some other baby rolled it face down and i think it smothered,I was shocked and pleased i had such a high hatch on shipped , my best of 7 so it CAN happen if the Hatch Gods are smiling.LOL
