She really is pretty. I have a question..... For those of you that have hatched Catdance Silkies what was your hatch rate with the shipped eggs? I am really considering getting some of her eggs but am concerned with the travel distance - Washington State to Florida. Even if I only got a few out of the hatch I would be pleased. I just love her birds.

Like you, even if only a few hatch I would be fine with that. I havent hatched her eggs but have chicks hatched from her eggs. They were only shipped from Washington to Ca. but I think the person I got mine from had pretty good hatches. She had enough to share! I know she also has eggs shipped from Florida ( Three Cedars) with extra chicks from that hatch as well. I have a lovely White Cockerel from Catdance and a Paint Cockerel. Growing up now I have a white ( thinking pullet) blue partridge pullet, a couple black/lavender splits from there. I will be looking for eggs from some really good blacks.

I read all the post after your initial and I am so happy that the breeder acknowledged what might have happened and is refunding your money. I think I would purchase from her again. Good luck on your mixed bag of chicks. I can't even imagine getting a turkey and raising it. It will be exciting to say the least when you get them.

Thanks. I have had turkeys before. The hen was alouf but the Toms were like chickens. They liked being with you and they would follow us around all the time. Unfortunately one of our distant neighbors 2 dogs, came down and tore apart our whole flock in front of my kids. The lap dog terrier killed and mamed most of the chickens and their black lab tore open the turkeys but did not kill them. My husband had to put them down because they were so bad. I told the Dog Warden what they looked like, he took me to their house I identified the dogs and the people never even apologized even though I did not sign a complaint. Oh well, that was along time ago. Rather think about new babies!

I have a broody bantam buff cochin due to hatch today. She has 7 eggs under her and 2 are pipping. One of them is from my birchen maran.
This will be our first birchen baby from them.

I wrote to the shipper and she said she thinks since her rooster was molting, that he was infertile. She is going to give me a refund which is really nice of here.

I hope so. The eggtopsies are getting to me. And I don't get what went wrong. Exact same conditions for these eggs as with the ones that hatched a week ago. Same incubator! The eggs were all mixed together. Mystifying.

Sounds li ke the shipping if all your specks are the same. or infertile to start

..So frustrating. Sorry!

Awe, thanks. All the babies are cute. My favorite is when they just flop over and sleep.

The quail are even funnier. They are rolling over on their backs and sleeping with their feet in the air! I had a moment of panic, oh no! But he was just sleeping.

We have two quail chicks and five or six eggs rocking now.....
