Here we go again - I'm hatching more goslings!!

That's a crazy amount of eggs, mohillbilly! Well, you have Carole's email and phone number, so you know how to reach her when you want to get eggs.

Personally, I hope my cayugas can fly... makes then one step safer from predators, assuming they want to stick around... and why wouldn't they?

Marty, by the way, have a great date night!!

Marty,

Actually he is from two visually white parents. The goose is a hidden splash though so he is feathering colored. I have two geese growing out about the same age, they are appearing to maybe be saddleback blues. I won't keep both, and he can't stay because I am keeping his hatch mate sister. So depending on the color that pops on these girls I think I have your pair picked.

Oh Celtic, they sound completely lovely! Your a doll, thanks so much for saving me some of your pretty babies. I hope to see lots of their goslings show pretty colors, but I'll probobly just keep the pair here. I'll probobly end up selling the babies every year. It will be lovely to let her set her own eggs every year. Ideal, in fact! LOL

On another note, I candled all my goose eggs last night, and here are the semi-official stats (some eggs have 3 more days until day 10, and I give them every chance)

Erins Giant Toulouse - 2 of 5 have strong spiders, 3 removed now.
Buff Dewlap Toulouse batch(#1) - 3 of 5 have embryos (remaing 2 have 2 days until I save or toss)
Buff Dewlap oulouse (#2) all 4 Buffs have embryos and 1 Grey has an embryo (the remaining gray has 3 days before I candle and save or toss)

So right now I have 2 giant toulouse, 7 buff dewlaps and 1 grey dewlap to do a happy dance over

The first time I got eggs, one was fertile and hatched. (squeeky)

I'm happy there are two this time, and just hope they hatch and are a pair.

How are you Psue? I'll go down and look for those seeds this morning. LOL.

lol I can't beleive we both forgot about them! I'm getting turkeys from JulieNKC and supose to go to another guy down there and pick out a few more.... we want a pair and some for the freezer. Just perfer to know where my meat is comming from.

Good morning, guys. I am a little concerned about one of my buff babies. He has not built up strength that the other buff has. He appears to have weak legs that want to splay out, so yesterday I hobbled him with vet wrap which is working well. Then I noticed he was having trouble pooping, so I checked his butt and he has pasty butt! So I rinsed his butt in sink with warm water and got it nice and clean. This morning, he has more poop pasted to his butt. He is drinking really well, but not so interested in food. I have been giving him polyvisol water... yesterday I added a dash of sugar and a drop of apple cider vinegar.

How often should I rinse off his butt? Anything else I can do for the little one??

It sounds like he/she was maybe offered food too soon post hatch. Sometimes their systems aren't fully functional right away. Think about this way, you order from a hatchery. They hatch on. Sunday, ship on Monday you get them Tuesday or Wednesday. They wouldn't have food until they arrive because they are sustained on their egg yolk.

Remove the food, offer only water, and wash the fuzzy buns or atleast check them every 1-2 hours to make sure they are clean.

I have noticed chicks with fluffy rear ends can have pasty butt more readily than others.

Very excited here! My African goose eggs are starting to pip! (Well one of them has..)
There's 2 others that are internally pipped so hopefully by Late sunday I'll have some babies!)
