Hi.My hens are inherited from my mum and are lovely. Friendly and curious. Just recently the largest has become distant and quiet. She just stands and looks like she is resting. She struggled to lay an egg yesterday but that didn't seem to help. As she laid I presumed she is not egg bound? Any help great fully received!

Welcome to BYC. Hope there is nothing seriously wrong with your hen.

You need to examine her carefully and see if you can determine a cause.

Here's link to egg binding article: https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/egg-binding-symptoms-treatment-and-prevention

You can do a vent exam to see if she is egg bound and if so, the article can help you try to help her. If the exam is negative, then you should post under emergencies for more advice. But try to examine and give as much detail as possible. Sick chickens will try to hide it from the flock and a change in behavior is a sign to investigate.
