Make sure where you house them is as far from the neighbors as possible. When they start laying I would share the eggs with your neighbors. That way they will not be bothered by them and may even like them.

My next door neighbor has a 4 year old son who LOVES animals. We’re very close with them and we assume that they’ll be on our side.

Just wanted to add here, Pekin drake's are pretty quiet. The females will make a very loud 'QUACK QUACK QUACK' or honking occasionally.

My female pekin Raspberry quacks when she thinks the food isn't coming fast enough (usually when she hears the lid to the feed can open!).

@RosemaryDuck You havent met my 3 pekin drakes. They are loud -- one in particular is mega loud!! Thankfully my other ducks are muscovy and their sounds dont carry far!

@RosemaryDuck You havent met my 3 pekin drakes. They are loud -- one in particular is mega loud!! Thankfully my other ducks are muscovy and their sounds dont carry far!

Ducks are adorable, and their quacks are iconic. But..not always enjoyable.

My three pekin drakes get into Yackety Yack Yack mode when I get them up in the morning and again when they want me to come and feed them and close the duck coop for the night. If I am late in the evening, they get in there before me and I have to go in with them: its defening!!!!
