Sorry I can't offer any advice. But, people fixate on the color of eggs - I have never read that the color of eggs makes any difference on taste.
me too, I've ordered several batches from Hoover's, all have been great! I have some sex linked maran/barred rock (midnight majesty) but wouldn't consider them true marans, they aren't laying yet so can't comment on their egg color.
I see the Hoover's page about Midnight Majesty Marans does not say what they are actually crossing to get them, but I had assumed they would use Cuckoo Marans, not Barred Rock.
Barring and Cuckoo both have the sex-linked Barring gene, so either one can be used to make color-sexable birds.
The czhech cross is in fact a barred rock hen and black copper marans rooster, so it really doesn't help the OP much, just a side note I haven't had trouble with the hatchery the OP is asking about.
