How do I stop a raccoon from stealing eggs?

This is going to end badly for your flock. The raccoon probably looked so cute in the cage when you caught her.... when she is tearing your birds apart...... not so cute. I have been lucky to find a juvenile raccoon every other spring or so trying to get into my coops..... it will sit there (at 4 a.m.) unafraid of me..... until i give it a good poke in the backend from a long stick... usually i don't see said critter again. If i do.... well that is what the sidearm is for...

Also, I think I have read that raccoons will kill for fun. I've never had a problem but I'm sure others can tell your how cruel they can be... hungry or not. Good luck to you:)

Raccoons love duck eggs and meat. That's why nesting boxes for wild ducks are mounted on a piece of PVC pipe that coons can't climb. Letting a trapped raccoon go is a very bad idea. After he becomes trap-wise the only remedy is a rifle with night vision scope.
