I'm 41, and married. We have an eight year old son. He's currently in second grade, and playing soccer. My mother has an apartment above our garage. She gets him off to school when I'm working during the week (my days off vary).
We have two cats, one dog, and twelve chickens, and a 4,200 square foot house on 44 acres.
I'm up at 3:50 am. I leave for work at 5:15 am. I commute 72 miles, to be at work by 6:30 am, and ready for lineup at 6:45 am. If I'm lucky, I can leave for home by 3:00 pm. If I don't have to stop on the way home (which is rare), and traffic doesn't suck (which is rare), I can be home by 4:30. It's usually 5:00 pm or later.
The family has to eat. The animals have to eat. Homework has to be done. My son needs one on one time. My husband needs one on one time (he's lucky if he gets that twice a week). I have to work tomorrow, and I can't believe I'm on BYC right now. It's usually on my days off that I'm on late.
I try to clean the litter boxes twice a week. It doesn't always happen. I try to rake the run and toss the coop twice a week. It doesn't always happen. I try to cook every night. It doesn't always happen. Cleaning? Forget it. Lately, I'm lucky if I can vacuum twice a month. And I can't stand it!! I hate having a furry house. I shave the dog a few times a year, and if I could hold the cats down long enough I'd shave them, too. I try to keep the kitchen and the bathrooms clean daily. but that's even a stretch sometims. I don't know what I would do without my mother (even though she doesn't do bathrooms!). My mother does do most of the laundry, though.
Let's not even get started on the rest of the work that needs to be done outside ..... that's another post.
