How many birds are in your current flock?

Pics
Lol no not yet but I did say that list was only a partial list.

I was some bielefelders, Bresse, blue laced red wyandotte( I got some previously but had to cull in quarantine as they turned out to be sick), icelandics, hedamora, barnevelders and a host of other breeds.

I currently am growing out some welsummer pullets and two possibly white Californians but idk. We were told they were Leghorn eggs(a friend of mine hatched them for a school class). Interestingly they lack any black at all.

We've also had Brahmas(I would live some blue buff laced), speckled Sussex, and various other breeds but our groups of them have been small and often only female.

I did have a pair of Dominiques from an amazing line but lost then along with other birds to a fox this spring. Unusually our fox takes only 1-2 a day.

I know the feeling. We bought our first lot from a breeder as Australorps but they look more like Orpingtons to me but I just say they are Australorps because im still learning and had no idea when I got them

I like them too! I'm hoping to let them hatch as many eggs as possible, as long as they stay healthy!

Thanks! BYC has been so helpful for raising my chickens.

I had 81 before all the roosters and predators showed up. :D

BYC has helped me understand everything I know about chickens so far. Every day im telling my partner something new about chickens and his like are you talking to your chicken friends im like yesss!

Hi Everyone,

Just curious as im starting to want more and more!

How many birds do you have in your current flock?
And How many did you originally start with?
I've always had chickens, grew up with them. My parent's always had lots. So it was just normal like growing grass lol. Then I decided I didn't want any, cost too much. Few yrs later I missed them, so we decided six would be good... I don't count, just know when the feed $ gets ridiculous. Hatch our own, it's between a dozen and a few dozen depending on the time of yr. A few dozen or so sounds better than actual numbers anyway Lol!

I have 11 chickens; 2 hens and 9 roosters. About half of them are bantams. Only 3 of them are purebred, the rest are mutts.
I started out with 5 bantams (3 roosters and 2 hens) and a hamburg (also a hen). I still have a descendant of two of the bantams.

I started my chicken insanity in 2017 with 18 hens and one Buff Orpington rooster. Which of that flock only one hen remains. I started 2018 with eleven new hens and the hold over from last year and one new Buff Orpington cockerel. I have 6 Buff Orpington hens two Barred Rocks 1 EE and 3 Rhode Island reds. Gotta love chicken math!
