How many birds are in your current flock?

I have 10, started with 9... 9 from feed store... few days later I rescued one from the neighbors/they gave her to me for a better home, I had to get one roo because all chicks were pullets... one chick was killed by a hawk... I was standing there, letter her have some outside time in a TINY chicken wire pen.... he swooped down right in front of me and ripped her head off... left her there dead:hit:th:hit:th:hit

I hope to get more.

Thank you. That is extremely great advice. Thanks

You're welcome and thank you. The chickens have been a huge blessing and I'm glad we have them. I honestly never thought I would be able to butcher an animal but since having chickens I've killed predators and learned first hand that some things are necessary. I've processed birds first after they were dead and then start to finish. I've seen death throes and held birds going through them. I've lost pets and gained perspective.
While I've always known certain things this journey has taught me many things about animals, the world, and myself. Some of which I would never have known otherwise.

Oh well thank you. :) It never occurred to me that our journey was anything special. Lol

What part of the journey would you like to read about?

Thats what I get worried about. I make my partner stand with me when I let my chicks out. We are about to hit spring too mating season. So all the wildlife is out and about. I haven't been swooped by a magpie yet but I feel its coming.

I would love to read about the animals you have, the predators you have to prevent, the things you face with your farm life and how you over come them. New babies. Things like that. Think its very interesting.
