Then different breeds
Then one day we walk outside and find we own a chicken farm! Bahahaha

Question:
From your initial decision to get chickens, do you have more than, less than, or the exact amount of chickens you decided on?

Great poem. I wanted 5, now they have a 17 ft by 20ft walkin chicken coop and my entire back yard, about 3/4 of an acre for a run. There are 33 hens, 3 Roosters and 13 in the incubator. This all started in Aug 2016.

I pulled the golf balls. She's still setting.

Mu daughter has a very broody silkie. She stands squaking in front of the other hens as they are laying. As soon as they lay an egg, she steals it and takes it to her nest!

Crazy how fast it happens! I started with 6 bantams last may 8th. By beginning of june I was up to 18. Found out banties need winter heat im my zone, which i didnt want to supply, So i had to swap them to standards. I decided to keep ahold of owning only 6 max hens which was my initial "magic" number. Now i have 11 and 2 more coming soon! What is wrong with me!!! Lol

Answering ? how many chickens from @Duckee. I wanted 4 had to buy 6 minimum from store. I bought day old chicks 3/30/2016. One passed away on day 4 at feeder during the early morning,away from heat lamp. I believe she fell asleep and got chilled. So I have 5 and wish all 6 survived. I would like 12 total of multi color egg layers,thanks to all the beautiful colored egg pics many have posted. But I would have to build a bigger coop to have more than 6 chickens. So I have my original 5 survivors 10 months later.
