How to get husband in gear to build coop

I got my ex to fix his camaro, when the city was ticketing us for a non running vehicle, by putting on my oldest clothes and a bandana, and heading for the car with various tools, including a 3 lb sledgehammer. He almost fell he got off that couch so fast.


Note the word ex. I've been married 3 times, mine weren't fond of working around the house or for pay. I quit getting married, supporting a man for the occasional hug is not my style. Not Gloria Steinem. Reality.

LOL my husband was so funny....

He kept procrastinating after promising he would do it for me.

He made plans etc etc etc...but always something happened. So, I came in one Fri afternoon and kissed him on top of the head and told him to just sit on his butt and relax cos I know he was busy. I then got my "working clothes" on, jumped online next to him and started looking up user manuals for his tools.

He gave me an odd look but didn't say a word. See, the man KNOWS I am challenged in some areas... primarily directions and the use of power tools and hammers.

Then, I headed out to the garage and made a lot of noise moving stuff around and pulled out this and that...I have no idea what they are called tbh but they looked useful lol I threw a couple of 2 x4's on the ground and started making a rough framework. I turned around to see him in the doorway with a look of horror on his face

that I was actually seriously PLANNING on using the tools <excuse me HIS BABIES> and doing it myself.

He comes in, tells me to go inside and he will call me when he needs me cos " The cost of me building this will be less than the insurance rate going up when you chop off your hand."

Coop was built that weekend

Just need to know how to make it work

Funny thing is, as I posted earlier in this thread that I have used this strat before and seen my other friends do it too and it seems to work. I threaten to touch his power tools and he gets all OMG and will run to do what I need done with them...as long as I don't touch them.

lots of funny stories! I agree with a lot of the women here- just do it YOURself!!!

I am building my coop all by myself! My husband has helped with a couple of things when he gets home after work- like helping me put those walls up on the base. But seriously, if i had to wait around for him all day, it would NEVER happen! And yeah, I've made some mistakes... that is why you use SCREWS- do not use nails! See my BYC Page and see what one little woman can accomplish on her own. I'm not there yet, but at least it's isn't a pile of wood, either.

Am I the only guy who enjoys doing projects for his wife? I always found it a useful way to get new toys like tools, guns and fishin' poles! All kidding aside, I actually don't mind the honey do projects.

Well I hatched out over 20 babies . Got DH on the move to help me with the coop, to get them out of the house.

Nope... I also love doing these projects and actually my coop has been on hold for 3 weekends now while my wife and I build this 3000 sq ft cage for over her garden. I will add pictures soon. My wife and I made a deal. I can get the tools needed for the job. So with the cage I was lucky enough to get a frame nailer after I did it manually for 2 weekends : )

I do have to add to what I said before...We did buy the coop, but we built the run together. The way I got him to help me was I did try to do it myself first. I was just starting to dig the holes for the posts when he came out to check on me and informed me that I was "doing it all wrong" so, that's how I got his help...lol

All I have to do to get my hubby to do something is threaten to do it myself. And if that don't get him moving, actually go out to the shed and start dragging out his power tools. I swear he twitches whenever I touch his tools.
