Hummus help please

I like to make my own - so easy!! I use sprouted chickpeas and chop them up in the blender, but you can use canned, or ones you've soaked and cooked. If you google for recipes you'll find tons. It's mainly just chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, and spices. I don't shop at Walmart, but in my grocery store the hummus is usually near the deli section, along with tzatziki, baba ghanoush, etc. I like it on veggies, pitas, crackers or chips.

BYC Forum and Hummus are my two current addictions.

Bedhead hit it on the head (so to speak). Just process everything into a paste. There's lots of different ways to flavor. I've expanded from eating it with chips to using it as a condiment with chicken or pork.

Andi,
It's middle eastern.

They would be in the veggie section with vegetable related dips.

Once you try it, I bet you will love it. It's great with pita bread or carrots. It is SO easy to make, once you get hooked on it, you can start making your own for cheap.

So cheap, and so frickin good!! I've used a few recipes, never with tahini. A quick google should bring a recipe with olives in it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
* 1 can garbanzo beans/chickepeas
* 1/4 cup olive oil
* 1 tablespoon lemon juice
* 1 teaspoon cumin
((I add one or two cloves of garlic and a pinch of salt))
Preparation:
In a food processor, blend all ingredients together until smooth and creamy.
Serve immediately with pita bread, pita chips, or veggies.
Store in a airtight container for up to three days.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I put a bit less olive oil in the recipe, just by preference.
