you can make it at home. you just need chickpeas (also known as garbanzo beans) along with lemon, salt, olive oil, and chili powder. just mash up the chickpeas and add the other ingredients to taste. you can also add some tahini to it (sesame paste) if you would like. it is good to dip vegetables in, like carrots, celery, etc. and is good to put on sandwiches too. especially good in a falafel sandwich with lettuce and tomato

Mmm-guess what I just had for dinner? Ribs & bread dunked in Hummus. Big hummus fan here. I only eat it plain, with pine nuts or with whole chickpeas. I'm in the right country for it.

I hate chickpeas, but love hummus

Sometimes we buy it at the store, but DH likes to make it. It's definitely easy, and you can make what ever flavor pleases you. DH can be awesome sometimes.

Well, you guys talked me into buying some and giving it a try. Not bad! I was expecting it to be smoother. Not sure why. It didn't detract from it though. I used it as a dip. I can definitely see it being used as a spread on a veggie sandwich! It sort of reminded me of guacamole dip, sort of. Not as green tasting though.
