I wish i was on my way, haven't had a good tamale in ages. The ones i get down here are like chewing on a boot.
DIL is good with them. So I just get all the ingredients together on her day off and let her build them. They are awesome!

The hardest part to me..before today...was the spreading the masa out on the husk.
Today I got that down pretty good.
My double today with making tamales is the cooking part.
I finally figured out I was cooking it on too low of a fire.
Only took me about 4 hours after I started cooking them to figure it out.

Oh..and the part about spreading the masa on the smooth side, but that really didn't make much of a difference.

Guess what!??!

It really doesn't matter that much which side of the corn husk you use.
I am able to unwrap them just fine!
WOOT!

Thank gosh..I thought for sure they were all going to be ruined.
I always let the natural curve or shape of the corn husk determine, spreading the masa in the concave part. Made both sweet and savory tamales for family b'days.:)
Yours look delicious!!:drool

That is pretty much how I did it, with the natural curve.
