What concerns me is I don't see legumes or goodies in the posted diet, nor do I see any distinction on what veg is chosen - a big iceberg salad is junk compared to something make with spinach, herbs, greens, and every vegetable you can throw in it (LOTS of color!)
I actually do not consume milk
and I agree dairy provides minimal needs. However, I don't think I got enough good sources of calcium when I was younger, along with having everything against me (tall, white, female, Nordic ancestry). I don't see an emphasis on the posted diet on the types of leafy greens - kale, greens, seaweed etc. (I now do eat greens, spinach, and sardines quite a few times a week, and my blood calcium and Vit D is now normal. I'm actually rebuilding some bone finally).
The posted diet doesn't show what the caloric intake would be - and it sure doesn't look near enough to be the minimum 1500 cal or probably 2000+ call needed for a tall youth.
I'm also concerned on the lack of protein - even vegan forms such as legumes/grains to get good complete proteins.
I have no issue with a balanced vegan/raw diet - not at all. I know someone who looks to be beating ALS with an organic raw diet of foods that are juiced and he drinks through a straw, though hopefully he will regain use of his mouth as he's somehow maintained use of his legs and hands. His story is pretty amazing.
I have a few vegan friends who loosely follow a raw food diet - but they do it in a healthy way. It's not for me, I already have enough genetic junk that causes my body to be hateful. One small example is I'm incapable of maintaining blood pressure - so in order to stay at 120/80 I get to consume 10,000mg of salt a day. That's a whopping 10 grams. It's "good" for me and keeps my heart somewhat stable, but it sure as heck is bad for Joe Blow and his' 4th bypass....and I have doctor orders to do so.
