Well, I am down to just two mature hens, a rooster, and their three babies, all of which are silkies.

Two eggs a day from probably the worst laying breed.
in the middle of winter.
I didn't even get chickens for eggs, yet here we are...
how are your girls doing this winter?
tell me your stories!

The pictures of the chickens are from this summer :)
it was 3 degrees here just a few days ago. It's warming back up again now though.

Ok, that makes more sense now :lau

I took this picture about a week ago. And it's looked like that for weeks.

We’re from Georgia so it doesn’t get that cold but mine have been good. My two red sex links are still laying big eggs every day. My 7 pullets that just matured are giving me about 3 or 4 a day.

Your girls are adorable!!! And yes, we got 8 one day old chicks May 30th, we are getting 5 to 6 days each day! Just gave away two dozen last week and we have 23 eggs right now. We are having a warmer winter so far (mid 30’s for the high up to mid 40’s).
