I'll make y'all a deal: Let's prove that the idea (sending messages brings people back) works by sending the notes out manually, and tracking it here, and if it ends up looking good, we'll develop tools to help make this easier, or even automated!

Sometimes you are reading a whole 100 pages and it ends like nothing

I was reading a thread just the other day, It was such a cute, sweet story and it just cut off-no ending!! I was like "what the heck!" I did reach out to the member, she told me the ending and I convinced them to write an article telling the story it is an amazing story of a Broody Chicken and a surprise in the nest...it is a really sweet story! And I promise it actually has an ending!

I think part of the problem is that most people tend to think they are the only one with the particular issue. Its a basic human trait, "it only happens to me!" type of thing so why follow up. But it doesn't, it happens to MANY of us! I too hate it when I am searching for an answer in an old thread and the entire conversation comes to a grinding halt. Don't they realize they were right on the cusp of giving me the answer and now I will never know??!!

I KNOW-It is SO frustrating! And, I think you are correct on your assessment and I believe most people would happily give updates.

Wow, that's a really fun / interesting idea!

I'm not sure how hard that would be to implement, but I'll add it to our list of suggestions!

I often like to do a "proof-of-concept" manually first before developing / implementing automated systems, so maybe we could do some tests!

Ideally we'd have a bunch of members reach out to the thread-starters of topics where things were left hanging, then we'd see what works and what doesn't, then try to automate the process.

So, maybe when y'all see examples like this you can try posting in the thread or messaging them privately and request an update, then post the link to the thread here and we'll see if they ever update the thread!

now... GO!!!

Or like when they have a question about an illness or anything like that and they post a thread. I would like to know the outcome...Just a thought relating to what you said. I agree that people should post outcomes of these types of threads. Just so we know if what we said was helpful

Yes, if you come across any like this again, simply request an update as if and what advice worked. Then post the thread here and if you get a response post that as well...doing a little test.
