I just set more silkie eggs...due Dec. 21...anyone else want to play?

I tossed some eggs, still have 28 out of 36 going well. 3 are buff orps, 25 are the silkies. So far these are the best results I have had at this point in incubation. I think it's because we have turned them more this time.

I have 20 Lav Orps due on the 18th. I cant wait.
When I candled I had 19 that had definite babies.
And these are shipped eggs

We candled this weekend, had to take out 12 of the 24...mostly shipped serama eggs, clear as day sadly. Had one Silkie quit early, but we do have 3 RIR/Sex-Link crosses, 5 seramas, and 4 silkies that have happy squirming babies!!!

Can I join in? I've got a staggered hatch going. You can see it in my signature line. This thread almost looks like a "Silkie Hatch!" I currently have 3 broody silkies, that I have been tryin' to break for 3 weeks. Every day I toss them off the nest 3 or 4 times. Well, I gave up. I brought 2 into the heated garage and let them each have 6 eggs. I'll call today (Monday, Dec 14) day 1. So, I will hope for silkie babies on Jan 3.

It was so funny, when I gave them the eggs. They just purred and grabbed them up. I'm sure they were tired of me taking the eggs away every day! I suppose I may as well let the 3rd broody have eggs, too. I was thinkin' to let her set outside in the silkie coop, and see how that goes. They were all 3 crammed into one nest before. I dunno, what do ya think, being winter and all? This is my first experience with a broody. They are all three first time setters.

I have 10 due on Dec 16th, 14 due on Dec 25th and another 14 on New Years day. I try to add more every week, so I don't have chicks hatching everyday.

I think I might join. I have a staggerd hatch but my sussex eggs should be hatching on the 21. Yay I can't wait, 7 days to go.

I candled mine last night finally too. 32 out of the 84 eggs due for the 21st have growth in them. This is actually a very good percent considering I am dealing with alot of very young pullets and cockerels. I set another 8 dozen due for the 28th. Today I had less than 3 dozen to put in. THe double digits below 0 outside meant alot of frozen eggs by the time I got to them.

I still have to get my brooder tubs set up and chick starter bought. I am so not ready!
