I need help with chick food please.

I found some pictures of my first chicks eating chick starter and it looked like a more crushed version of this feed I might be wrong as the pictures aren’t very good.

i forgot To add that we got chick starter from them before but I don’t remember what it looked like.
The chick starter we usually buy in the USA looks like the pictures in this article:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/aarts-waste-free-funnel-bucket-feeder.67218/

That's an article about a feeder, but it shows feed IN the feeder. The feed is little bits, all the same color (light brown or tan), all close to the same size. That's because the company grinds all the ingredients until they are small like flour, then sticks them back together into bits the right size for a chick to eat. They're called "crumbles," and are smaller than pellets. But it does not have a bunch of different seeds and grains that the chickens can pick and choose.

it Looks very different from the chick starter we buy here. The one we buy here is more of a powder. but Now from what the lady that helps at the feed store said that it’s perfect my dad thinks it’s fine. My freind is bring me some food she gIves her baby chicks on Monday.

Should I just not give this food at all or can it be mixed with big chicken food. can I still give it to the chicks?
If you can get better chick starter from your friend, I would use that instead.

For the food you showed pictures of, I would probably return it to the store or give small amounts to the big chickens as treats.

For the chicks, a proper chick starter would be MUCH better than the food that is a mix of seeds. (But the mix of seeds would be better than no food at all, if you are stuck and cannot get other food for them. If you have to feed that mix, try also giving the chicks some cooked egg, or meat or fish or bugs.)

Make contact with the number listed on the bag and ask them for the guaranteed analysis/ingredients list.. Or do they have a website.. I'm not getting any return on my searches.. but that could be because of my location somehow filtering it out.

The fact that your Silkies were stunted.. may not have been the food since they didn't suffer any wry neck or other symptoms/conditions that would be *more* indicative of malnourishment.. and we are all jumping on board with the breeder assessment as to why. And I agree it's a possibility but it isn't adding up completely.

Find out what it is and the guaranteed analysis. Then IF it is a better choice, perhaps you can get it from the same place she does??

Yeah. I know the breeder and he would not sell me unhealthy chicks. I will try and contact them. what could have causes malnourishment. Thanks.
