In a word, how would you describe your garden as of today?

Satisfying

I put a lot of hard work in this year and the last three years too. I'm having the best year yet with the garden. Right now potatoes are starting to die back as a sign of harvest in the near future, tomatoes are just starting to turn red, cucumbers are growing incredibly well, yellow squash and zucchini are producing regularly, and even the new things for us like celery and Jerusalem artichokes are growing well.

So far it’s like a lush thriving eden. I built my raised bed this year and got a lot of good advice on BYC. I made little seedlings in the pellet starters and got so busy with my birds I got behind on actually planting them, I only planted the last half of the tomatoes like 2 weeks ago haha. I grew strawberries from seeds and it was difficult, I don’t think they’ll produce fruit this year but I have hopes they will survive the winter and come back strong next year, but I also have been telling hubby how much I want a small green house, (Ive collected more container plants than I have windows inside haha), so maybe they have hope to give some fruit at odd times.

Depends on the strawberry. I don't grow typical garden/hybrid strawberries but I have alpines for the chickens (those will fruit as soon as the plant gets big enough) as well as heirloom strawberries which are very unlikely to fruit the first year (and then often die around 3rd year), but they keep propagating themselves so I did get enough to harvest for a batch of jam this year.

When we lived in Virginia we had no dirt in our backyard, it was a cement patio and my hubs built me 2 boxes and my son grew an impressive garden with the little space we had. Now we have a dedicated 1500sqft (well less because part of that I fenced off for the ducks) garden area and even after being professionally tilled twice and by me several times (and spraying vinegar) I can’t keep it from being weedy. (My understanding isn it’s actually an inground pool filled with dirt).
I Live in VA with a huge yard (nearly 50ac) and still no soil. Every time i kill a rock, 10 more come to its funeral. My garden is 3000 sf and i have pulled so many 5 gal buckets of rock out of it each season that i am able to repair our driveway after the spring rains. Despite all of that, it produces an abundance of veggies every year and is a passion I enjoy all season.

Our strawberry patch originally consisted of (2) 50ft rows. I started the plants 5 yrs ago in old wheeled barrows and wash buckets. The plants were clearance stock from Home Depot. I bought them for $0.50 a 6pk and i bought 4 packs.
When we moved to this property 4yrs ago, they were rowed out and did awesome. The runners by now had produced over 100 plants for me.

By year 2 in the ground, the deer and the chickens decimated the pretty rows and my time was focused elsewhere. Today the plants are going strong and spreading all over the yard (under the grass and clover). The deer and chickens still love them but to get a crop for harvest will require redefining the beds with perimeter fencing.
