75 watts is fine... I thought it was one of those new fancy colored heat lamp bulbs that crank out 250 watts.. (which is too hot for a coolerbator even with 3 fans).

I actually didn’t realize that’s what I was buying until I opened the box lol but it seems to do the job anyways.

So I think I’m going to do a test run with whatever eggs my 4 hens lay this weekend. I’ll set them Sunday. We’ll be away all week, when I come back I’ll try to candle and see if anything is cooking. Saves me picking up eggs and getting disappointed again.
I know my hens lay fertile eggs because those were the ones that developed last time.
If things go well I’ll let those eggs run their course, and I’ll get hatching eggs again. If not I’ll do more tweaking.
I have 9 eggs I can set so far, hoping I get 4 more tomorrow, but hard to say because they laid 6 today!

We are gone for 5 days. With the shot glass I could go for about 3 days. So I found a taller glass that is close to the same width so that should last longer.

I set 12 eggs last night. Temp and humidity were stable this morning and now I leave them for a few days and hope for the best!
I tried the listerine spray to disinfect. We’ll see how that works out.

I tried the Listerine spray to disinfect as well..... but all the chicks breath still stinks.

Hey guys, made it back to check on my eggsperiment.
Temp is steady and humidity has been hanging out around 39%.
Tried to candle but these shells are quite thick.
On day 7 I’m seeing a small aircell, a clear bottom pointy end and a dark blob filling the mid/upper space. I’m hoping since they aren’t just clear and glowing that this is a good sign?

Any darkening inside is a good sign, means a chick is trying to develop. I hope these ones make it!
