I'm using an open brooder, but it's in a 70 degree room, so I thought a warm bulb would do? But if not, let me know.

I wasn't planning on chick's till Tuesday lol good thing I have paper towels from costco...so a s**!-ton lol, yes it's a unit of measurement lol

Hey vitamins and stuff I need to give them or probiotics? I want to be cost effective but also want thriving birds since I'm a budding hobby egg business lol

Hopefully I can help you too :) you may be able to get by with a regular bulb but you're aiming for about 95 degrees first week under your light/ heat source. Then raise or adjust your light weekly to drop your brooder temp under the light 5 degrees week by week until they're feathered out at 5+ weeks. You'll get plenty of different opinions on bulb color (red or clear) or using no bulbs at all (like me- I use a brooder heater plate that they go under like a momma hen)...whatever you use, your chicks will let you know if they are comfortable. They will huddle under the light and peep loudly if cold, scatter away from the light and may pant if too hot.

I use Save a Chick electrolyte / vitamins in the water for the first few days. Many of the commercial feeds have probiotics in them so check out the labels. All the commercial feeds are vitamin fortified so you don't need the extra vitamins for an extended period of time. It just gives them a good boost as they are typically not eating and drinking much the first couple of days.

Did you put vitamins in the waterer?

if you don't have any, DO you have any GATOR-AID IN THE HOUSE?

DO YOU HAVE A FANCY TEA CUP WITH A NARROW BOTTOM LIKE IN THE PICTURE?
