Since I am not a descendant of slave owners, am not a racist, and don't judge people based on their skin color, this book will not be one I am adding to my library. Being white hasn't made me wealthy, gotten me political power, special jobs or anything else for that matter. So no. Not going to feel guilty for things I am not responsible for. Is there still discrimination? Oh heck yeah and it makes me ill. But blaming all white people and assuming all whites are ignorant bigots is just as dumb as assuming all black people are lazy or stupid.

As for Bell, he clearly has no idea what he's talking about. Despite living in the South, and having a lot of connections in redneckville, I've personally met one racist in my entire life. I am truly sick of hearing that we owe it to African-Americans to give them special attention as compensation for the long-past evil of slavery and the now mostly imaginary "discrimination."

We are really struggling too. We live in a small town but my husband does not make much money and commutes 50 miles each way to work. We have three kids and two of them have or have had major medical problems. When gas prices go up, even a little, we really feel it. I don't work, and if I wanted to, the amount of money I make would not cover the cost of child care (which I don't believe in) and would leave them at a major disadvantage because of their individual therapies. My kids need me too much and I couldn't make enough money where we live to make a difference. The good news is that we have found ways to save money. We moved here from San Diego, so we save money simply by living here.

We have actually found a few ways to save a LOT of money on our food bills. We have bought meat in bulk through zaycon foods. We bought 120 lbs of chicken at $1.69 a pound and we bough 8 pounds of 93% lean ground beef at $2.69 a pound. They do events in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Arizona, Oklahoma, and Texas. Also, we get all our fruits and veggies from a co-op called bountiful baskets. We pay $15 per basket and get a huge basket of fruits and veggies. It's all volunteer run and non-profit. This morning I picked up my basket and for $15 I got a honeydew melon, 2 pineapples, 2 pounds of asparagus, a bag of apples, two grapefruits, 3 yellow squash, 2 cucumbers, 6 sweet potatoes, a pound of strawberries, a bunch of broccoli and 2 diakon. I am sharing this because it has helped us eat a lot healthier for way less money. They have sites in Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming.

Well the summary certainly does not do the book it dues - one of the chief messages is that as long as there are people willing to better their circumstances at the cost of others, rather than pulling those same people up with them then we ourselfs are at risk of the same treatment and is that what you want for yourself and loveones.

And if you do not believe you are among those that are exploiting others- then you really need to open your eyes to the truely internationtional trade and unless everything you own is made in the USA then someone is being exploited, being paid a wage that you would scoff at, and working under circunstances you would find apalling.

Predictions of famine and over population have been around for years. I also remember the first "Earth Day" in 1968 and all of the dire predictions. It seems as if people follow the liberal party line like lemmings. Can't they think for themselves?

The bright side of the equation is that when they were busy dumping investments in South Africa several years ago, there were bargains to be had. Sometimes you can really do well swimming against the flow. Watch the market and be ready.

Predictions of doom and gloom made by left wing individuals are treated as true science by the media, but those religions that advocate storing up a year's supply of food and goods are treated as nut cases.

Question the validity of the global warming issue, and they want to have you committed.
