Wouldn't you know it! After paying into social security and medicare for all of those years, now that I can get it, I am part of the problem.

Worse, I see people writing letters to the editor of the local paper complaining about my retirement check. But nobody writes in to complain about their food stamps, unemployment or other social welfare benefits.

With my luck, I would hit the lottery on the day that the US dollar becomes worthless.

Are hay prices expected to drop at all ? Feed, grain , every things gone up. But my husbands pay isn't going up to accomodate for the rise in everything food, clothing, etc. Just doesn't make sense for prices to sky rocket when people cant afford it. So many businesses have closed , empty buildings. I would love go be able go pay under 20.oo for. Bale of hay. And the sr grain is 20.00 a bag. Flock raiser is 18 dollars with tax close go 20.00.

It really stinks. SS is fully funded through 2029. Why are they messing with it? They want to invest our SS in Wall Street, WTH. I guess maybe they forgot what happened in 2006-2008. They want to give old people a voucher towards the purchase of a health plan when they get old enough for Medicare, WTH. Oh but that only applies to people who are currently under 55. That way they don't lose the voting block of people over 55. That's the biggest voting block out there with the most to contribute and the highest turnout rate.

Don't worry Rufus. They want to take everything from everyone except the people most likely to vote for them again. It won't pass for at least 2 more years. Maybe 6. Eventually they will get someone in there that will sign the bill though. As long as Obama is POTUS your SS is safe until at least 2029. There are other ways to fix the deficit.

Dunkopf, I am not too sure about that. I may get my SS check, but will it buy anything? The more currency the government prints, the less it is worth. It is easy for politicians to be generous with the phoney money they are printing.

Inflation is lots of money chasing limited goods.

Perhasps the solution is not so hard. How about a national lottery to generate more income. Increased taxes just push up the price of all goods. A lottery would not be a tax (except on those stupid enough to buy the tickets). It would be another product in the market.

Lottery winnings should be tax free.

Half of the proceeds from the lottery could be used to establish an investment fund for Social Security, and the other half used to reduce the national debt.

Think about it. Let me know if you see any holes in the idea.

That!

As for a national lottery, getting more money in to the system isn't the problem. It's all the money going OUT. Giving them more money at this point is completely foolish.

But the lottery earnings should be off limits to politicians. They should be untouchable. Otherwise, they will just waste the money on their social programs and wars.
