Internally piped

hello,
My duck eggs are on day 23 (nearly 24) and one of them has internally piped. The only issue is that the eggs have small air cells (like day 10-15 size) I don’t want it to run out of air. What should I do? The egg is upright at the moment.

If the air cells are small, it will likely break the shell in 12-18 hours from the time it internally pipped, but you could do a safe hole if you want.

First time for me as well ll. I was told to do it because the air cells were small and if they were lying down when they internally pip, liquid could get into the air cell. Think that’s the reason

Air cells grow till time of hatch . I'm not sure what you mean? I definitely hatch all Ducks laying on the side. Plus chickens too.
