the silver cuckoos are hard to find any where .
I bred mine my self from just 1 pure silver cuckoo rooster imported from the UK as fertile egg . he had all sort of fault and problem but he was pure silver and come from dark egg layer strain .
no I m in the 3 rd generation . working on the forth one this breeding season .plus I m breeding a pure dark silver cuckoo .

Your birds are amazing Chooksman! Big chunky birds with gorgeous type.. I am so envious! Great job as always!

first let them do some growing .than post photos of them so we can help you select the good one .

I never rush to cull any chooks .I give them the time they need to fully express them selves ,specially if I have a little number of chicks from a any line.

we can always use the chooks we have to improve them if we want to put some time .

TO MUCH CULLING WILL KEEP YOUR CHOOKS WARD EMPTY .

I follow the Chooks man's way....... wait...... I would not have kept Antonio at first, my other cockerels looked better to me but Chooks man made me do critiques by the book and I learned a little about what I should look for. Not fault finding, all of us can find faults, but looking beyond that to the overall bird. The cockerels I loved in the beginning slowly fell apart and Antonio slowly came together. So many things can be fixed. We are learning how to guide our program, learning to select the right stock, how to match them up to fix problems and improve what we have.

Speaking of Antonio, he is starting to get his feathers back. Antonio likes to have his picture taken.

Omg I had forgotten you lived in Florida! If you dont have any safe shelter to take them to, turning them out would probably be their best chance at survival. Chickens are pretty tough so they may find somewhere to ride out the storm. You will be in my prayers! I hope you and your animals stay safe!!
I turned them loose. They were fine!

Magpie is a cockerel and a gorgeous one too.

chooksman, if Magpie is a cockerel I will be on cloud nine!!!! :weeI wanted to be able to keep my LP line pure, but I could never get a cockerel to hatch. That is why I went and bought Zorro. Magepie is nine weeks old today. I thought it strange that a pullet would be getting copper in those places, but I thought we had deemed her a little pullet in the beginning. I will get a better side view with the head included tomorrow when it is light again. I have added again the 6 week old Magpie and the hatchling Magpie photographs.
