Intestines hanging out???

I know this is not what you want to hear right now (and I don't blame you) but if you are going to raise chickens then you are going to have to be able to cull. That is just the way it is. Suffocation, freezing all of those methods are really inhumane. A heavy duty pair of shears will do the job quickly.

Dislocate the chicks cervix?
Here, there is a humane way involving baking soda and vinegar I think. It creates fumes that kills the chick without any decapitation. Here is the article. Scroll down the article and find, "the baking soda method". That is what I would do if you can't decapitate. https://www.raising-happy-chickens.com/how-to-cull-a-chick.html
I agree you should cull them. They likely won't survive.

Edit: Don't use this method! The experts say no!

Not humane at all. Especially without proper regulation. It is essentially suffocation.

You mentioned you have a husband. Hand him the shears and have him do it. That will be the quickest, most humane way. It is instant. No suffering involved.

My goodness.

Listen to her! She is WAY more experienced then me! I haven't done any research on that method, but saw it somewhere. Never mind! Don't use my method! Thanks Overo for the info! :goodpost:

Yes, I agree. Decapitaion is the best way. It will be the hardest for you, but 1000% best for the chick. Hugs!
