Is anyone on here South Beaching?

I didn't notice any mention of water intake in this thread.

I'm far from a dietitian by any means.

I have learned a few tricks being pregnant with horrible, horrible Hyper Grav.

I changed my horrible diet from greasy, fried,...basically your average southern home cookin' here.....to more "bland", high fiber foods and several small meals...snacks if you will...a day.

I was on a series of medications to stop my nausea and vomiting...which all led to several unwanted side affects, some severe. So, I had to resort to my own methods of controlling these issues without medications.

I cut out ALL soda of any kind, drink mostly water and juice...I made a great concoction of apple, cranberry and prune juice...to keep things flowing, if you know what I mean...LOL.

I have started to put on unacceptable weight during this pregnancy. I started out at 135....which took me months and months of hard to work to get down to!!

I now weigh in at 160 and am only just hitting 4 months along! *gasp*

I'm getting back on track now that I can get up and around and am not vomiting 5 times a day, lol.

Back to my routine from before the pregnancy from hell began!

Several small meals a day, LOTS, AND LOTS of water...I can't stress that enough!
I lost so much weight, modifying HOW MUCH I was eating, not cutting alot out, just much smaller portions, and the exercise, we all hate that word, but it's actually easier than you think.
When I was working, I'm not now, I used to walk laps around the store (72 laps around the store was 1 mile...lol), take the stairs instead of the elevator. Little things like that will help tremendously.

Good luck to all of you, you seem to be doing great!!

Don't forget to drink your water, add lemon or lime to it for taste if need be.

If I drink any more water..I'd belong in the desert

My worst habit is 2 cups of coffee a day - I dont do soda's, juice, tea or any other type of "sweet" things - occassionally I will drink 1/2 a packet of Crystal Lite in a bottle of water (an entire pkt is just too sweet for me).

I will however, have a glass of wine every now and again. I dont deprive myself of that LOL

hey - we all have our downfall...

I must, must, MUST have my big morning mug of coffee w/ half & half & 2 packets of Truvia every day. I drink water most of the time but I do allow myself 1 diet green tea (citrus flavor, yummy) and one glass of milk a day, if I feel like having either of those. I'm supposed to be drinking skim or 1% milk but since I don't drink very much I've just been drinking the 2% that the kids drink.

I quit smoking 3/21/08 and was selling our home at the time, so the stress of it all caused me to gain about 20pounds. I started Alli, Nov 1st. I don't weigh myself but I can tell I'm losing so I'm going to stick with it and see with the holidays how well I do. I've never had a problem keeping my weight in check but since I quit smoking it just seems like no matter what I eat I gained!

congrats on quitting smoking! I quit 4 years ago - cold turkey - and hubby quit almost 7 years ago the same way. It wasnt easy and there were times I wanted to light up due to stress or more importantly - habit - but you need to find new habits (but not food ones, thats the key) and you'll do great!

I found that when I craved something (even now) whether its food or back then, a smoke - I brushed my teeth or took toothpaste on my finger. It works, trust me. Another one is drink water. Most times what you perceive as hunger, is actually your body telling you you are thirsty!

Hi,

I am new here-just joined today.

I don't do the South Beach diet, but have been doing the Atkins plan since June. I have lost 28 pounds and gone from a 12/14 to a 6/8.

Now I am working on maintenance.

Low carb has been a real miracle for me. I look and feel so much better.

I eat eggs daily for breakfast, and am looking forward to spring when I get my baby chicks. One day I can eat breakfast of fresh eggs from my own chickens.

Good luck on your plan.

I new a lady who made pies with those torilla's. She used one for the top and one for the bottom and just made her own sugar free fillings.

In the dell section of the stores they got a crust type thing kind of oblong and about 1/4 in thick. That is really low carb and makes a great pizza. Ya feel like you are cheating and your not. Wish I could remember the name. Comes in wheat too.

Edited to ask if ya have tried those pizza's on the spinich or tomato torilla shells?

I use them for sandwiches, just spread a layer of cream cheese and chives and then put your delli meats on it and anything else you want and roll them up and eat them. Yummo

HennysMom-Thank You! My DH still smokes but I quit cold turkey and believe me there are times through these months when the weight was coming on and I thought about smoking again just to keep that from happening!! I am doing better with the food and I drink alot of water, and we moved to the country and I find I'm much more active so that is a real blessing as well!

No I havent tried it with those yet, they are very very thin so I dont think they'll hold up very well whereas the others are pretty thick. Oooh..a pie out of them? Hmm.... now you're giving me some ideas
