Is anyone on here South Beaching?

Different things work for different people.
in 42 yrs of life I have a pretty good feel for what works for me.
Me and sugar will never mix in a good way. I just can't work it into my life with moderation, I don't feel good and am craving more and feel hungry all the time.
So I avoid it, I feel better - call it a gimmick but for me a diet like South Beach is a way to have a healthy lifestyle. there is nothing gimmicky about South Beach - it is a VERY healthy way to eat.

As BAD as my knee is right now just walking 8-12,000 steps a day is HUGE progress from where I was 3 months ago (when I was on crutches), SOME days I can walk on the treadmill or walk the dogs at the park other days they just get to play fetch. But then there are days like today that even with vicodin I'm in agony thus on this board instead of going to bed. crossing my fingers the drugs will kick in and that I can get sleep.

I have NEVER tried to loose weight before w/o doing the 30+ min a day of brisk walking but that is NOT an option this time around, at least not yet! So lets see started mid August, with focused effort and have lost 18# and feeling better every day.

For those that loosing weight is no big deal, you can just eat less and be more active, GREAT - for me and I know MANY others, sugar/simple carbs are KILLERS for us.

I'm one of those people too, carousel. As I've aged, sugar and starches have become my worst enemy. I used to be able to eat sweets for breakfast... if I ate a bowl of sweet kid cereal or a doughnut for breakfast now, I would be shaking like a leaf and feeling nauseous in an hour. I have learned that proteins, such as eggs, are my friend!

I had broiled Salmon with a tomato/spinach/caper topping and a salad for dinner tonight. It was yummy. Last night was mustard-ginger glazed pork tenderloin and green beans. That was also today's lunch. There are some very good recipes in my SB book. I don't have to make two meals either, I can make an SB entree with extra sides for my family and, VOILA, dinner is served!

This was today's breakfast and, OH MY GOODNESS, it was so good! Those are little Millie Fleur D'uccle bantam eggs in there - 2 in each dish!

If anyone wants the recipe just let me know, I'll be happy to share.

I'm like that too, sugar & pasta are a craving that won't go away. I must also include BREAD.. They are my top comfort foods. Sometimes I can exercise, sometimes I can't, but with SB I was able to learn to keep track of what I was eating & how much & how often. People that really enjoy food have a hard time with limits. The worst part for me is that I'm still very young. (37) with 2 kids still at home. I had knee surgery 4 years ago,(I was hurt @ work) yes I'm doing better, but there are days that I can't walk. Then I get to feeling awful about myself because I can't go up 6 steps to see one of my kids play sports. I've hard a rough few years & I turn to food. SB is good because it makes you think. I'm able to eat & snack & not feel guilty. After losing 30# I felt better and was able to excercise more, which in turn made me feel better about myself. I don't think it's just the diet I think it's life style change that some people need & can relate to.

For those of you with cravings, grapefruit will suppress your appetite. I don't know what it is in it, but either grapefruit or its juice will make you fill full longer.

I'm trying not to weigh myself every day (so far, that isn't working

) but I was very happy to see that I'm down 6.6 lbs. as of this morning! I know a lot of that is water weight, buy still, it's water that is no longer weighing ME down.

Happy to share the recipe with you, Featherland. I found it here and used the comments below the recipe to spiff it up a little. Mine had the Canadian Bacon on the bottom of the Ramekin, topped with my sauteed veggie mixture (chopped red bell pepper, onion, mushroom) topped with a sprinkle of Colby Jack cheese, topped with 2 bantam eggs, topped with salt & black pepper. After I snapped the pics above, I did stir the eggs a little and cooked it for a few more minutes so the eggs would cook completely through (can't handle runny egg whites.

)

I made it again this morning using chopped zucchini, mushroom, red peppers, garlic & onion. This time I whipped the eggs before pouring them on top. I think leaving the egg intact until the last few minutes was a little better but I don't know why - ?

If you try it, let me know what you think. I'm sure I'll have it at least once a week from now on!
