I have 6 bantams that I rescued, the back story about them is in another post I’ve made previously. I’ve been checking them over ever since I found mites on them & after treating them. Today I noticed this flaky, yellowish skin under a couple of the bantam’s wings. I’ve also been noticing that a couple of them have been having lots of dandruff on the back of their necks & tops of their head. Also flaky skin that’s in a tube basically coming off of their neck feathers. Is this dry skin or something else?

This is Cookie. She’s the one with the stuff under her wing from the picture in post. She also has crossbeak, I make sure that she gets her share of the food because she does tend to get picked on the most out of all the bantams. You can see the flaky skin on the top of her head in the photo second from last.

You wouldn't have happened to spray them with anything recently did you? I was treating my hens for mites, and didn't dilute the permthrein. I gave them terrible chemical burn, and infection, that looked like that excepted their was a grey mucous.
Actually, I did. I used permethrin too but it was very diluted. You think this is from the permethrin?? 😟

What brand di you use? If yo used this- then likely. THE product I gave a link to contains gasoline. I used it on my birds and didn't use it again, because after I sprayed I looked at why it smelled so bad, and it contains gasoline, and is TOXIC!

Julius is the alpha. He’s the one That’s been getting his bottom treated with neosporin because of how red/raw it was.

This is Mr. Squeak. He seems like he’s in the best shape of all 6.

This is Moe. Her & Cookie are the only 2 girls out of all 6. She seems to hate everyone besides Julius.

And this is Biscuit. Very quiet boy, but very sweet & curious. His looks reminds me of a chimpanzee 😍 He & Cookie are mixed with Silkie, I think Julius might be mixed with Silkie too.

How much did you dilute it? Your hen is no nearly as bad as mine were, she will be fine! Mine recovered winton the week I started treatment. If this is the case, she will be perfectly fine!
The directions say dilute 1.28 oz per gallon of water , I used a 5 gallon bucket & only put 2 oz in. I used the durvet brand but looks like it contains petroleum distillate. God I hate when I research the life out of something before using it but always miss that one little important detail. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Your babies are adorable. I also have silkies and dry skin came up with one of my pullets around 2 months old. I’ve gave them since birth. Anyway, I tried Vet RX which is diluted essential oil on her scalp and wiped off with a towel. Did seem to help her shed that dry skin. I also mixed Feather Fixer 50/50 with their food, to me that’s been the best thing to help her skin. Best of luck
