Also for a Baz update: all the shelters I've called are totally full. I called a private animal rescue, which was also full, but she said she has some contacts she's going to reach out to for me.

Maybe call some shelters in New York since you're going there soon?

I don't know if they would take it since it's out-of their district. Ours won't take dogs that come from outside their area.

Horrible idea. They aren't going to accept an animal that came from outside an area funded by their tax dollars.
